While there definitely are examples as to where America did or did not uphold justice, I would say that the United States for the most part was the land of justice from 1960 to present. While there are individual people that did not uphold justice, equality, or fairness, the government and country as a whole oftentimes went against those outliers. For example, George Floyd’s death resulted in the imprisonment of Derek Chauvin for 22 years. The invasion of the Watergate hotel resulted in what would have been the inevitable impeachment of Richard Nixon. Osama Bin Laden and al Qaeda’s terrorist attack on September 11th, 2001, resulted in imminent action to find and destroy Bin Laden and his al Qaeda partners. Lyndon Johnson’s actions as president of the United States furthered the rights of African American’s; his Civil Rights Act of 1964 improved the rights of black Americans, while striking down on the injustice of segregation and inequality. Overall, America has made great strides in this time period in replacing injustice in our country. While there are still instances of inequality in the US, the country has, and will continue to improve and grow for all.
